Ottawa Queensway Mid-town Bridges Study
In 2016, MTO retained Morrison Hershfield (MH) and Bytown Engineering (BTE) to complete the Preliminary Design and Environmental Assessment for the rehabilitation/replacement of Highway 417 (Ottawa Queensway) Mid-Town Bridges (G.W.P. 4075-11-00), to define a bridge management plan for 23 bridges (12 sites) on the Ottawa Queensway between Holland Avenue to O’Connor Street.
The study developed a bridge management plan and recommendations for immediate, short-term and long-term planning horizons, including immediate bridge work required, and subsequent rehabilitation plans or replacement strategies for each bridge site. As part of the study, both rehabilitation and replacement alternatives were evaluated at each of the bridge locations and a Recommended Plan was determined for each site. The study was documented in a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) which received environmental clearance in April 2016.
